Hello everyone, I hope you’ve had a lovely week!
I dragged myself out of bed super early last Sunday to go to a car boot fair, but it was so worth it for the vintage treasure! Amongst other bits and bobs, I found this lovely old lamp which needs re-wiring, this beautiful gold Florentine tray, and in a move which may leave some of you saying ‘What on earth was she thinking?!’ this vintage Edouart Mandon print. I’ve always had a soft spot for anything retro, bordering on kitsch, and whilst I’m sure most of my friends wouldn’t touch this picture with a barge pole, the moment I saw it, I fell in love with it. For a start, I love the sea and being at the beach – there’s something so soothing about listening to waves crash against the shore, and this painting captures that in the most beautiful way. It makes me so happy every time I look at it! (Tricky to photograph though without getting my big reflection in it!)
It was only when I got home that I realised I’d picked these three items and they all had a soft, golden, early summer glow to them. Once I placed them together, they looked as if they were meant to be together. I added a touch of blush pink (gold and blush pink = a luscious combination!) and one of my favourite Diptyque scented candles, a treat from Liberty on my London trip the other week (find it here – it’s utterly divine!).
