Well, a few days ago I thought Spring was finally on it’s way. However as I’m sat writing this late on Saturday night, we have a couple of centimetres of snow! And needless to say it’s absolutely freezing, and the wind is howling. But time marches on, and Easter is indeed just around the corner, so today I’m sharing some images from my Easter feature in Reclaim Magazine.
Easter Pastels and Florals
After a long winter, it’s time to have fun with colour and pattern for Spring. Mix blousy floral fabrics, thrifted china, and bring the outside in for a touch of whimsy in your home this Easter.
Layer up your table with floral fabrics for a delightful Easter afternoon tea. Make a simple table runner and napkins by cutting up old curtains or furnishing fabrics. For the no-sew version, use pinking shears. Look for fabrics in shades of apple green, pale pink and lilac for a pretty pastel display.
Floral Easter basket
If your garden is still waking up, use artificial flowers to decorate a myriad of homewares, including old baskets.
-I painted my basket first of all using chalk paint mixed with a little water.
-Using a glue gun, glue your flowers on one at a time, gradually working your way round the basket.
-To make a floral garland, simply tie some sprigs to a long piece of twine knotted at each end. Hang over a mirror or mantelpiece.
Plant up paper whites and muscari in vintage vessels to bring a touch of spring green inside. I’ve planted mine in beautiful old antique jelly moulds, and used moss from my garden to decorate. Or you could place your bulbs in old jars with moss for an antique botanical vibe.
What with the Pantone colour of the year being Ultra
Violet, it’s only a matter of time before this vibrant purple filters through to the high street. For a more subtle take on bringing this colour into your home, paint small items in shades of lilac and purple. Make pretty painted eggs by blowing and painting with chalk paint, and displaying in bowls or hanging from twigs.

I have a crazy busy week this week, but I’m hoping to (finally!) upload my photos I took from my trip to Rye this week.
