I wanted to share these photographs that I took for a feature in In The Moment Magazine earlier this year. The brief was to make and style natural aromatherapy soaps, using pretty petals and herbs. I love making soaps, I made them last year for a feature in Mollie Makes and it’s so much fun!
To make these, I used the Melt & Pour soaps from Stephenson that you can buy easily on Amazon or in Hobbycraft. I used aromatherapy oils, and petals from the garden, and plain soap moulds from Hobbycraft. My top tips : it’s best to not make huge batches, as the petals won’t hold their colour, and it’s best if you only decorate the tops of the soaps with them – any submerged petals will go brown. These would make pretty gifts when wrapped in brown paper, with string and a handmade label.
In case you missed my post last week, I have a new sofa! In fact the whole living room has been give a bit of a makeover, and a major declutter is going on throughout the house at the moment. Which is tough when you love ‘stuff’, especially vintage treasures!
We are having our annual summer mini holiday down at my parent’s house for the next few days. Things we are excited about –
Going to the beach
Fish and chips in Hastings
Visiting Sonia at the Old Haberdashery
Going to see The Lion King in London
I’m also hoping to get some sunset photos down at the the reservoir near my parent’s house. They always seem to get the most beautiful skies here! I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
