Countryside Inspired Interiors

Hello everyone
I hope your week is going well!
I wanted to share these snaps with you from the current issue of Reclaim Magazine ( I’ve had a monthly styling feature with Reclaim Magazine for the last 5 years!). Take inspiration from the colours and textures of the great outdoors. Get creative with paints, and collect treasures from outside to bring inside your home.
Handpainted Mural Inspired by a 19th Century Landscape Painting
(Heads up, my styling feature has one look that is sponsored by Annie Sloan, so the paint I used was gifted to me.)
I took inspiration from the beautiful landscape paintings of Constable and Turner, and came up with my own , slightly moodier interpretation to create this wall mural using Chalk Paints by Annie Sloan. Map out your landscape loosely using pencil, then apply your paints with darker colours at the bottom, and lighter coppers at the top to create an ombre effect. I kept mine very loose, and I took my time – keep painting until you are happy with the effect. In some parts I watered down my paints (50/50), I used a large brush with a dabbing motion, to give different textures to different areas of my wall.
Colours used –
Old White, Whistler Grey, Chateau Grey, Louis Blue, Versailles. Small amounts of English Yellow and Florence.

Foraged Botanicals and Dried Flower Display
I love to bring the outside in to create arrangements and decorative pieces, using dried grasses, hydrangeas, old man’s beard, seed heads and even feathers found on walks. Use chicken wire Instead of using floristry oasis, which is harmful to the environment, use chicken wire, moulded into a shape that fits inside your vessel, and display in vintage vessels or urns.

Thrifted Landscape Paintings
I love collecting vintage art, and whenever I see a landscape painting I snap it up. I tend to look for colours that I am drawn to, and interesting frames, the chippier the better! Display lots together for a striking display.
