DIY Christmas Brown Paper Gift Wrap

(This is a sponsored post in association with Swiftcover. All views and opinions are my own!)

Hello everyone!

I hope you had a lovely weekend!

I have recently been sharing my #SwiftHomeHacks in association with Swiftcover, sharing my hints and tips of ways to make beautiful decorations for your home on a budget!  You can see my previous posts here, 5 Ways to Upcycle Vintage Lace Tablecloths and Hyacinth Bulbs in Vintage Containers.

For my third #SwiftHomeHacks post, I am going to give a few ideas for making your gift wrap look dreamy this Christmas without breaking the bank.  Part of the pleasure for me on the big day, is giving people gifts that have been wrapped with imagination and love – plus they look really beautiful under the tree!

I am a big fan of the humble brown roll of paper.  See it as a blank canvas, that you can really get creative with, whether it’s with rustic simplicity, or by adding jewel bright ribbons and sparkle.  In the past I have used rubber stamps to decorate my paper with, but this year I got myself a chalk pen to make some simple botanical designs of trailing olive branches and wreaths.  Plan out your design first with a pencil if you like, before tracing over the top with the chalk pen.  I have then embellished my parcels using berries, little pine cones, and hydrangea petals from my garden.  I even added a touch of glitter to my hydrangea petals to make them really magical.  (Use a tiny amount of PVA glue!)

If natural rustic isn’t your thing, then how about decorating your gifts using vintage brooches or costume jewellery for extra sparkle.  Charity shops always have an abundance of costume jewellery, so have a good rummage and you may find the perfect embellishment for your gift wrap.  Make beautiful labels to attach to your gifts using scraps of lace and ribbon, or stamp the recipient’s name on it for the personalised touch.

We would love to see your makes, so please do share them on social media using #SwiftHomeHacks!
