Dreaming In A Hydrangea Garden

Hello everyone! I hope you have had a lovely weekend.
I’m so excited to share these photos with you today. Last week, my son was off to a friend’s birthday party, so my girl and I decided to go and have a play with my camera.
A dreamy vibe…
I really wanted to go back to the glorious gardens at East Ruston Old Vicarage (see our visit there last year in this post), and I wanted to get some dreamy pics amongst the hydrangeas in the shady woodland. We picked this cream dress as I wanted a dreamy, romantic vibe, taking inspiration from Picnic At Hanging Rock (I was obsessed with that movie and book as a teen!) and the Pre-Raphaelites.
I also have been really practising shooting on manual mode with no tripod. It’s one thing shooting a still life vignette at home on a tripod, but shooting moving people under different lighting conditions is a different kettle of fish for me, and I have to think really hard when I’m doing it! As a result, some of these pics are definitely not as sharp as they could be, but I think that actually adds to the whole dreamy feel of the story. I made a little movie too, which you can see over in my Instagram gallery!
We also nipped up to Felbrigg Hall which is another of our favourite places to wander and daydream, and shot lots there too. We also had tea AND cake in both places, so all in all it was a day to treasure!
I have lots more photos to share from these gardens, so I’ll post some more soon.

Please do leave a comment, I love hearing from you!
Alice in Wonderland wonderful.
Thank you so much Leslie-Anne!
So Jane Austen-ish!
I haven’t dared to watch Picnic at Hanging Rock yet, but I did watch The Beguiled (2017) the other day, and it was creepy (in a good way :). Sofia Coppola at her best, and the cast too, and the camera… IMHO.
Thank you so much Jana! Ooh will have to get my hands on that thanks you so much!
