Fading Hydrangeas…

Hello everyone, I hope you had a lovely weekend.

I apologise for the fact that it’s yet another post about Hydrangeas, but I absolutely love them, so feel free to ignore if they are not your flower of choice!  There is something about the way that they fade to dusky vintage shades, which shows that Autumn is truly here…in early September I cut the stems of the best flowers, remove the leaves, and put them in a big jar of water, where the petals slowly lose their colour and turn to parchment hues.  Once the water has completely vanished, the heads are dry enough to use in floral displays or for making wreaths in time for (dare I say it?!) Christmas.  Until then I shall enjoy their ruffled, pale pink display in my huge apothecary jar – a last memento of summer.
