Festive Mantelpiece

Hello everyone!

So Christmas is less than three weeks away, how did that happen?!  Our plans fell into place today, as I have my usual crowd coming for Christmas Day, but I also have my parents and my brother coming to ours on Boxing Day for a few days.  Which I’m really excited about!  So I need to get planning, and sort out where everyone is going to sleep!

I have decided that this year, I am going to move the dining table into the studio for the first time ever, just for the festive season.  I’ll empty the studio of any camera equipment, and just make a really beautiful room, with lots of candles, fairy lights, and greenery.  I just think there will be a bit more space with so many people sat round the table.  Plus we can ignore the washing up!  I’ll be sure to share lots of photos, though it might not be until after Christmas.

So with the dining table in the studio, I will make another seating area in the current dining room, with armchairs and a little sofa I have to pull out of the summerhouse.  With my family staying for a few days, it will be great to have another are for people to sit, maybe play some games with a sherry!

Anyway, the image above of the decorated festive mantelpiece in the studio, can be seen in the current Christmas issue of Reclaim magazine.  I’ll share some other images from my feature, (including an alternative Christmas tree!) over the next week, so watch this space!

If you fancy some festive crafting, this is one of my favourite posts from the archive – 5 Ways To Upcycle Vintage Tablecloths.  If you’re a vintage lover, then you’re bound to have a few pretty lacy tablecloths turning at the back of a cupboard, so why not turn them into something new?  You can see some of the lace covered tea lights in the photos above.

Just in case you missed, you can hear my first ever podcast interview here, thank you so much to Miranda at Tea & Tattle for having me!
