Flowers in my Kitchen -And Please Vote!
Hello everyone! I hope your week has gone well?
Life seems to be moving at 100 miles an hour at the moment! But I’m making the most of the summer, as before we know it, the leaves will turn golden and the nights will draw in.
I want to share these images with you that I took a few weeks ago, of these blooms I bought on the market. Does anyone else find that faffing with flowers is a tonic for the soul? Especially when lined up in pretty vintage jars and bottles. I’m not sure what the rogue hydrangea is doing in the last shot, but I thought it looked quite playful, like it was trying to escape to get into the front of the photo!
I have a huge favour to ask of you, dear readers. As you may remember, two years ago I was asking for votes, as my blog had been nominated for the Interior Blogger Awards. I was in the ‘Colour Inspiration’ category, and thanks to all of you who voted, I made it into the shortlist of four (or six? Can’t remember now!). I got to go to London for the awards ceremony, and had a brilliant time.
Last year I was in the Lifestyle blog category, and there were about a hundred blogs there! So needless to say competition was tough, and I didn’t make it to the shortlist.
I must stress, I do not need an award to validate what I do here. I post here for love, and I adore sharing my photos and words here in my little corner of the internet. So I wasn’t going to even bother going forward for the awards this year. Then I saw that they have a new category, ‘Best Use of Photography’ blog. Which sparked all sorts of feelings within me, mostly ‘I need to try for that category!’. I feel that I have come so far, and that there are so many awards out here for fashion and beauty bloggers, I wanted to show that us forty something bloggers have lots to share too, in this crazy and sometimes puzzling industry! And this category felt so right for me to try for.
So, again I am up against many friends and bloggers that I admire. I would love to try my best to have a shot at getting shortlisted, so I call upon you lovely folks to please vote for this blog. If you have enjoyed my photos and ramblings, please vote.
Phew!! Now that thats’s dealt with, I must go and finish packing! I managed to get the children and I a last minute holiday in Menorca, and we’re off in the morning! I am SO excited, although I’m feeling a bit jittery about travelling tomorrow, its the first time I’ve taken them abroad (with the exception of Paris). I bought far too many books to read, and I can’t wait to get stuck in! Are you on Instagram? If so come and find me here, as I’ll be popping some snaps of our adventures in my stories.
Have a wonderful weekend, and I’ll be back on my return with some photos of my new variety of dahlias which have finally bloomed.
