Lem Lem – New Chalk Paint By Annie Sloan

(I was gifted this paint by Annie Sloan, all views are my own.)
Hello everyone!
When I attended the workshop held by Annie Sloan back in the spring, she told us that she would be releasing a new paint colour in the Autumn. She told us a little about her trip to Ethiopia with Oxfam, and that this new paint colour was inspired by her visit. Obviously we were all very intrigued to find out what the colour was, and it has now been unveiled!
Lem Lem is inspired by the beautiful soft green of the allium fields that Annie saw whilst visiting Oxfam’s Ethiopian Seed Project. Women farmers are able to grow the plants, aided and supported by Oxfam. Every pot of Lem Lem sold will raise funds for Oxfam, helping them to beat poverty worldwide
Annie sent me a tin of Lem Lem to try out for myself, and I had great fun giving my dining room pine bench a fresh makeover. It’s such a pretty, soft green, and I wanted to give it a bit of contrast, so I first painted my bench in Provence and Aubusson Blue, where I wanted to sand back. As with the chest of drawers in my son’s room, I quite like to make the paint quite thick and textured in these areas, so that when I sand back, it reveals layers of colours. These shades together make my heart sing!
Follow #AnnieSloanAndOxfam on Instagram to see what other people are creating with Lem Lem, there are some really gorgeous pieces!
In other news, I will be packing up my car with props on Friday for an early start on Saturday, when I will be going down to Bristol for our fourth Decorative Vintage Styling Workshop. I’m so excited as I’ve never been to Bristol before, and Katie and I are staying Saturday night so we can do some exploring Sunday morning. I will of course share some snaps with you!
Have a wonderful day!
