Pastel Shades with Laura Ashley

Hello everyone, I hope you’re having or have had a lovely weekend!
For those of you who read this blog regularly, you will know that I have an ongoing, passionate love affair with pretty faded pastel hues. I use these shades abundantly throughout my home, and I take a lot of inspiration from the vintage finds that I trawl flea markets and fairs to find. These colours are so easy to live with, especially if you introduce them through home accessories, and switch them up according to the seasons.
When the lovely folks at Laura Ashley got in touch, I was delighted to browse their beautiful home accessories and pick some pretty items to add to my home for Autumn.
First on my list was the amazingly versatile Marina Jar lamp. The beauty of this lamp is that the base, which resembles a vintage canning jar, actually opens so you can fill your jar with whatever you fancy. I chose to fill mine with my collection of faded vintage glass baubles, which look like sweets in an old fashioned sweet shop when displayed like this. The brilliant thing about this lamp is that you can change what you display as often as you choose. Why not go for an Autumnal rustic look, by filling it with seed heads and pine cones, or dried rose heads? Or you could put it on a dressing table filled with vintage costume jewellery. I’m thinking about getting one for my son’s bedroom, and filling it with little vintage Matchbox cars in bright colours!
I adore swans, and have a collection of 1950’s ceramic swans and art work. (You can see my post about my Laura Ashley swan lamp here.) S0 when I set eyes on the gorgeous Swans Printed Linen cushion, I knew I had to have it. It also sits beautifully next to the Wisteria Floral wallpaper, in DuckEgg/Pistachio. This pretty wallpaper is reminiscent of whimsical 1930’s wallpaper patterns with it’s soft colours and trailing floral design, and would look dreamy papered on a feature wall in a bedroom or a hallway, or even lining a glazed cupboard.
I have a day of crafting lined up which makes for the perfect Autumnal Sunday. I hope you all get to do something creative!
