Candy Pink Peonies
It’s a picture heavy post today, and I make no apologies. I was going to post this earlier in the week, but the horrible events in Manchester on Monday night meant that I just haven’t felt like it. I lived in Manchester for three years when I was in my early twenties, and it is a city that is full of love and happiness. It’s a city that treated me very kindly, gave me new experiences and made me the person I am today. So to see such horrific atrocity take place there, to see children and young people as victims…so awful. I know this is happening across the world right now on a global scale, but it obviously makes you far more aware when it happens on your doorstep. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their friends and families, and everyone one who was caught up in the attack on Monday.
So, I am determined to find the beauty out there this week, and to hold my loved ones a little closer. And I thought we all need a big bunch of from from, candy pink peonies. I bought these last Saturday from my local market, and they have been opening up all week, hence the reason why there are so many pictures! They look more beautiful from one day to the next.
I planted out some of my dahlia plants yesterday (in the midday heat!) which I’m really excited about. Do any of you have any tips for keeping the pesky slugs away? I have another few plants that I’m going to plant at the allotment, but I wanted to spread them between the garden here and the allotment to see where they do best. I have a vision in may end of being able to collect armfuls of flowers in the summer months – I really hope this vision comes true!
The children and I are off camping for two night this weekend which they are really looking forward to! I am slightly more dubious, I think I always am about the first camping trip of the the year. WE are going with friends though, so it is sure to be a giggle.
I was lucky enough to go to an amazing tea dance at the Speigel Tent last Saturday, as part of the Norfolk and Norwich Festival. I adore the Spiegel Tent and it’s Victorian there feel, so I have some snaps to share with you tomorrow. My attempts at dancing were quite frankly hilarious, but it’s all about taking part isn’t it!
