Still Life of Lilac & Gold

Hello everyone, I hope you are having a relaxing weekend!
You may have noticed that I have had a bit of a blog spruce up. I’m sure that the new design will take some getting used to, but I do hope you like it – it was a big decision for me, to move from the blogging platform I have used since the beginning of 2013, and to come to WordPress. I had been thinking about doing it for a long time, and sometimes you just have to make the jump in order to move forward (this seems to be my mantra for 2016!). Anyway, I adore the new layout, and I’m loving the technical side backstage – it pleases the inner geek in me enormously! There are a few tweaks that I’m still making, so please be patient with me.
I have a few of these old frames knocking around at home, and I use them for various things, but usually as photographic props. I decided to give this one a bit of a spruce up with the gorgeous colour combo of lilac and gold, which I love. It now feels very Marie Antoinette, and would look gorgeous as a prop for afternoon tea perhaps, with a cake stand full of cupcakes and pretty floral china. For this still life, I pulled out my favourite old cotton reels, and these very old pieces of broken gold signage, which I used last Christmas as decoration (see post here).
Speaking of Christmas, (I know, I know, I’m sorry!) I am styling a festive shoot this week, so I need to go up into the attic later to pull out all my decorations!
