Still Life of Red, White and Blue

Hello everyone, I hope you’ve had a good week!

Our craft room is well on it’s way to being finished, and I can’t wait to share it with you.  For now, I have this little glimpse to show you!  I spent every spare minute I had last weekend painting the floor with whitewash varnish, and I now have the sore back to prove it.  I intend to leave this corner of the room bare, so I can use it for photography.  This is one of the corners in the house that had black mould up the wall, so I’m pretty pleased with the transformation!

I had the idea for this little set up a few weeks ago, when I can across this fantastic old flag in a local antique and vintage emporium.  It is perfectly tattered, and over the years it has been painstakingly repaired over and over again.  I bought the old shutter last weekend at the car boot fair for £7.  I hauled it back to the car with the children and had to do some strategic shuffling around in the car in order to fit it in!

I made the bunting and cushion covers a few years ago from the most glorious vintage floral fabric and some very old red ticking.  I display my old diamante brooches and buckles on my lovely mannequin – the only brooch that isn’t truly vintage is the magnificent crown brooch, which I bought from a little jewellery stall in Norwich.

Have a wonderful weekend!
