Studio progress…

Hello everyone! I hope October has got off to a good start for you?
I share with you today, more progress in my new photography studio! I’m so nearly there, but a couple of days working away, plus the fact that I am the Queen of Unfinished Projects, means that it’s still not completely done. I’m SO happy with it though, and it has forced me to reevaluate what I own.
As you can see, the wall is still bare plaster. My plan is to give it a rough wash of chalky white paint – I have found the perfect photo on Pinterest, and now I just to need to recreate it! As much as I love this plaster, I think it is too raw, and I need something that looks a bit more pale and beachy. Definitely not plain white, as I already have a plain white wall I can shoot against in the other room, so I want this one to be different.
What you can also see here, is my amazing new built in cupboard. I’m so happy with it, it looks like it has always been there. In fact the door is the one taken from the left hand side of the fireplace. I left the wood underneath the old lock unpainted – there’s something about being able to see the patina and chippy paint, that makes me really happy. I was also able to use one of my thrifted glass handles, which I absolutely love.
As you can see, the fireplace needs a bit of work. There are currently lots of books stacked in there, which are covered in a thick layer of grit and dust from the chimney. Hence why it’s all hidden behind the fireguard, which is a shame as there are some lovely tiles there. A few years ago, I investigated the possibility of using the fireplace again, but the chimney sweep said it was too damaged. Maybe one day I will be able to restore it to it’s former glory.
The large silver metal contraption, is my new C-stand, which enables me to do flatlay photos from high above. It’s a hefty bit of kit, as it’s designed for holding lighting equipment. I bought a clip on light from Ikea last night, which is perfect for transforming the stand into a makeshift lamp stand when not in use!
Tomorrow I’ll be taking these beautiful botanical prints down, and transforming this space for the Christmas issue of Reclaim Magazine. I feel so lucky to have this space, especially as this is what it looked like at the beginning of September!

Just looking at it makes my head spin!
I’ll be back in a couple of days to share some photos I took for the current issue of Reclaim Magazine.

It looks amazing Tamsyn!! Just so restful & simplistic! Yes I can spy those beautiful tiles behind the books in your fireplace. Well done … my sewing room looks a little like your last photo & it is making my head spin also!!
Adorable, I’m head over hills for your studio! The plant details are gorgeous and the fireplace adds some special flair to whole space. Fingers crossed that you restore it to its previous glory as I’m sure it would make the studio even more inviting and warm. The vintage/antique vibe is beautiful and every detail is so perfectly combined. You have an excellent style, I love it! 🙂
