The Country Brocante

Hello everyone!
Thanks so much for your lovely comments comments on the new website, both here and on Instagram, I’m so happy you like it!
Now the new site is here, I’ve got a sudden urge to go through all my photos from last year which are long overdue for posting! It’s very similar to that feeling when you move into a new home and you want to fill it with all your lovely things, long may the feeling continue.
A day at the Country Brocante…
So, last summer my friend Angeline invited me to go with her to The Country Brocante. Angeline was one of the first people I connected with and followed on Instagram way back in 2014. (Angeline makes the prettiest things from faded vintage fabrics, see her Instagram gallery here). I got to meet her face to face when she came on one of mine and Katie’s Vintage Styling workshops a few summers ago, and we’ve been in touch ever since.
I’ve wanted to go to The Country Brocante since I got given the book as a Christmas gift. So off I went one warm summer’s day, to Parham House in Sussex. The fair was in the grounds of the house, a dreamy market square of pretty marquees full to the brim of gorgeous things. Foxgloves planted in zinc buckets and bathtubs, elegantly foxed mirrors, reclaimed French shutters, delightful chippy furniture and everywhere, blousy English roses. I even saw Rachel Ashwell having a browse amongst the stalls.
Vintage treasure…
Needless to say I was in my absolute element. I got to meet some really lovely people, including some other Instagram friends who I had never met face to face before. I came away with some treasures (there was no way I was leaving empty handed!) including some amazing French cheese drainers, and the sweetest chippy shelf which now lives in my bathroom.
