The Decorative Home & Salvage Show

Hello everyone
I hope your week is treating you well so far, and hello July! It’s got a bit chilly here in Norfolk, and I really hope the sun puts in an appearance soon.
Fairs are back!
As you all know, hunting for vintage treasure is one of my favourite things to do. And as much as I love browsing and shopping for vintage online, there is nothing like being able to browse a real stall, and to find something you love, and to see it’s texture/colour /patina up close. The last year has been really tough for organised vintage/salvage fairs, so it’s such a delight that they are finally up and running again. We can now browse stalls again at our leisure, and soak up the lively atmosphere that these fairs have to offer. (And eat the delicious food! It’s almost like being at a festival!)
The Decorative Home & Salvage Show
I have been working with Arthur Swallow Fairs for a while now, creating video content for them (you can see my styling inspiration videos on their IGTV over on Instagram here), a styling workshop at one of their fairs a couple of years back, and a few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending their fair at Beale Park to make a ‘Source and Style’ video for them. I was collaborating with my creative partner, writer/stylist Alice Roberton, who I also work with when photographing home tours for magazines. Needless to say I didn’t leave the fair empty handed, and I’m very much looking forward to using my gorgeous new (old!) props in my photographs.
The purpose of our Source & Style video, was to really share some inspiration when it comes to styling vintage and salvaged finds within your home, and showing how colours and textures can work together. Alice and I explored the fair, and picked out some of our favourite pieces, which we used to style up a small scene. Take a look at our video here, I love our whimsical, colourful corner that we styled up – you can see some photographs of it at the top of this post.
Dates for your diary!
So the next fair I will be at is the Decorative Home & Salvage Show at Losely Park on Friday 9th July. It’s a three day event, and you can find more information here. Do come and say hello if you attend! I will be doing another Source & Style with Alice, so do keep an eye out on the ASFairs Instagram account to see the video when we post it on the Friday evening.
Alice and I will also be doing an Instagram live with Sam and Tamara over at Hoarde Vintage on Thursday 8th July at 7pm, talking all things vintage home and sourcing, so do pop in and join us on the Hoarde Vintage Instagram account.
Other news…
I posted some photos that I had taken of the lilac from my garden the other, in case you missed it you can see it here!
Now that work has got a little less hectic, I am finishing up my redecoration of the studio, and it’s looking so lovely. I will take some snaps to share with you next week, along with my purchases from this fair.
Have a lovely weekend, its my birthday so I really hope that we see some sunshine on Saturday so I can sit in the garden!
