Thursday Snapshots (Feeling Festive!)

Hello friends!
I hope your week is going well – can you believe that December is almost upon us?
I’m beginning to feel festive and very excited about decorating the house. So I’m starting to gather my vintage baubles from their various hiding places in preparation for some festive crafting and decoration this weekend. The children are with their dad this weekend so I shall wait until next week to get our big tree. When do you put your tree up?
Embracing the shadows…
I have decided to embrace the shadows when it comes to shooting at the moment. I used to panic in the darker winter months, and to try and create light, bright pictures. Which often resulted in fuzzy snaps that looked a bit fake. So now I’ve decided to go with. To try and capture the opulence and richness of the winter days rather than running from it. And I am loving it! It’s a very liberating way to shoot. I can’t wait to to try and capture the full cosiness and sparkle of December!
In case you missed it, please do hop over to take a look at my Vintage/Handmade Gift Guide. All the folks I feature there are my friends, and all tiny businesses. All very talented, and brilliant if you’re after a unique Christmas gift for someone who loves vintage and handmade homewares. You can see it here.
I tiptoed out into the garden last week which has turned into a little leaf covered wilderness. I managed to find some hydrangea heads at the back of the bushes which still had some colour, so I duly snipped them and brought them inside. I used them to adorn the simple wreath which you can see in the top picture.
I have a few Christmas crafts up my sleeve that I can’t wait to snap and share with you all! I’ll get going on those this weekend so do come and visit next week. I’m now off to shoot my ‘Welcome December’ picture that I post every month – it’s currently snowing here, so I’m in the mood! Pop back tomorrow to see my snap!
