Time to hibernate…

Hello everyone!
Winter seems to have arrived here in Norfolk today. I got hailed on as I walked back from the library, and my umbrella popped inside out as it battled against the icy wind. I’m really trying to focus on the positives of this chilly season ahead of us though, so I thought I’d list a few of my favourite things about winter.
Candle light. I love the flickering warm glow of a candle. Fill old jam jars with tea lights and cluster them together on a mantelpiece.
Steaming hot mugs of coffee or tea. Make a ritual of it, using a tea or coffee pot. Sit by a window to drink, and watch the world go by for five minutes with no phone or laptop.
Blankets and eiderdowns. I’d rather be a bit more sparing with the heating, and wear a cosy blanket around my shoulders! All three of us love to climb on the sofa on a Friday night, and make a cocoon with blankets and cushions.
Slow living. I am one of those people who flit about like a butterfly. I get overwhelmed by all my ‘to do’ lists, and sometimes feel that I’m spreading myself too thin, and not focusing. Instead of doing fewer jobs more efficiently, I try to cover too much ground, and don’t do any of it particularly well! I have just signed up for this course, which I’m really hoping will help me to tackle my ‘to do’ lists more efficiently. Slow living is about well-being, pacing yourself and doing things well, rather than as fast as possible. I’m hoping to guide myself towards this way of living over the winter months.
Making. I’m going to schedule some time in to get creative, and maybe make some Christmas decorations, or finish some craft projects that have been loitering for far too long!
What are your favourite things to do whilst the wind and rain are hammering on the windows? I would love to hear from you!
My Christmas Gift Guide will go live on Thursday, and I’m so excited to share it with you! There are some lovely tiny businesses included, selling gorgeous treasures, so please do pop back! In the meantime, here are some posts from the archive you might enjoy – Bringing The Outside In with Reclaim Magazine, and Pretty Gatherings of Petals and Vintage China. Enjoy!
